Speech Therapist PRN

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Speech Therapist is
responsible for providing a full range of speech-language pathology services
including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an
interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position s qualifications,
professional practices and ethical standards.
The Speech Therapist works closely with infants, children and adults who
have various levels of speech, language and communication problems as well as
people with swallowing difficulties. The
Speech Therapist is responsible for providing patient and family education
appropriate to treatment modalities and for providing education to other members
of the department with regard to treatment programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Follows established policies and procedures,
objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

2. Responsible for providing a full range of
speech-language pathology services including assessment, treatment planning and
therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with
the position s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.

3. Provides direct patient care, evaluation, and
establishes a plan of care with each patient within the scope of license, in
accordance with the speech therapists practice and as directed by a physician
order.

4. Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core
competencies annually or as requested.

5. Evaluates and assess patient in order to develop a
treatment plan of care.

6. Develops plan of care program specific for patient.

7. Provides direct patient treatment, or directs
treatment being provided by other members of the department.

8. Assesses patient response to treatment and modifies
treatment plan as appropriate.

9. Instructs patient and family members in treatment and
special use of any adaptive equipment, bracing, or exercise program.

10. Communicates regularly with referring physician or
primary individual generating referral.

11. Documents daily progress and discharge notes regarding
patient outcomes to therapy.

12. Generates accurate charges for treatment and
evaluation provided.

13. Participates in departmental quality improvement
programs on an on-going basis.

14. Plans and develops educational programs for
department, medical staff, hospital, and the public.

15. Maintains and increases knowledge by attending
appropriate meetings and continuing education courses.

16. Attends all mandatory in-services and completes annual
educational requirements

17. Maintains a clean and organized work area.

18. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
regulations.

19. Support the culture of service excellence throughout
the organization.

20. Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to
continuous improvement and participate in professional development
opportunities.

21. Performs other related duties as assigned or
requested.

22. Understands and adheres to Bell s compliance standards
as they appear in Bell s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and
Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications

MINIMUM
LEVEL OF REQUIRED PREPARATION AND TRAINING/POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience Required:

Minimum:


Master s Degree
in Speech/Language Pathology

Preferred:


Doctorate in
Speech/Language Pathology


2-3 years prior
experience as a Speech Therapist.

Licensure/Certification:

Required:
Certification from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

Michigan Licensure as a Speech-Language
Pathologist

Primary Source Verification: American

Physical Demands:

Working Conditions:

1. Occasionally requires work near moving mechanical
parts.

2. May be exposed, occasionally, to blood borne
pathogens.

3. May occasionally be as risk of electrical shock.

4. Works in moderate noise conditions.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
