Job Description UP Health System - Bell
Performs routinelaboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory.
Performs commontesting procedures and reports test results.
Performs qualitycontrol testing.
Performsinstrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Maintains suppliesneeded for performance of tests.
Followsestablished policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, andsensitivity to confidential information.
Willing and ableto demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.
Performs anddetermines accuracy of technical lab procedures
Maintains recordsof procedures performed, the patient results and the quality control requiredfor all procedures performed.
Performs qualitycontrol procedures outlined by the manufacturer or departmental procedure foreach procedure or piece of equipment.
Maintains accurateand complete records of all quality control tests completed.
Assures that allout-of-control procedures are followed and that there is documentation ofremedial actions taken.
Reads andunderstands all procedure manuals on an annual basis.
Performs qualityassurance studies as assigned.
Collectsbiological specimens.
Prepares andforwards biological specimens to appropriate reference laboratory according todepartmental procedures.
Providesinstruction to students/new employees with regard to procedures anddepartmental policies.
Contributes to apositive work climate and to the overall team approach to the laboratory.
Maintainsconfidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support theculture of service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek waysto demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate inprofessional development opportunities.
Performs otherrelated duties as assigned or requested.
Completes annualeducational requirements.
Understands andadheres to Bell's compliance standards as they appear in Bell's
CorporateCompliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Working ConditionsFrequentlyrequires work near moving mechanical parts.Involves frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous waste.May frequently be at risk of electricalshock.Works in moderate noise conditions.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Associate degree in MedicalTechnology or Clinical Laboratory Science Required
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must beable to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licenses: ASCPCertification or eligibility required. Primary Source Verification: AmericanSociety for Clinical Pathology.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
