Registered Respiratory Therapist RT PRN

Job Description UP Health System - Bell
Examines patients with breathing-related conditions andconducts diagnostic testing. Consultswith physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatmentsand teaches patients to use medications.
Reports to: Directorof Cardiopulmonary
EssentialFunctions
Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using ablood gas analyzer.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per planof care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based onpatient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Educates the patient and family about the patient's illnessand provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory caresupplies and medical gas cylinders.
Maintains storage areas with required supply levels andequipment.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performspreventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
Follows established policies and procedures, objectives,safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate corecompetencies annually or as requested.
Performs all therapeutic and diagnostic modalities providedby the Department according to the established policies and procedures.
Performs patient assessment, evaluating the appropriatenessof the therapy ordered and making suggestions as to how the patient might bebest served.
Develops and implements plans of care for patients receivingrespiratory therapy services and participates in patient care conferencesregarding such plans of care with other health care providers.
Develops and implements patient education programs relatedto respiratory care and treatment of respiratory diseases and acts as aresource for other staff members with regard to performance of procedureswithin their realm of expertise.
Participates in departmental quality monitoring andimprovement activities and assists other staff members to assure that qualitypatient care is provided.
Performs all procedures thoroughly and accurately.
Maintains work areas in a well-organized and neat manner.
Demonstrates awareness of self-responsibility andaccountability for personal and professional growth.
Demonstrates self-directed learning, participates incontinuing education by attendance at scheduled meetings and in-services, andcompletes all annual learning requirements.

TheRegistered Respiratory Therapist may, with additional training andcertification:
Perform all diagnostic modalitiesoffered in the pulmonary function lab and coordinate the specific functions ofthe Lab assisting with the development of written guidelines.
Assist the Department Supervisor in the development,implementation and operation of new programs involving cardiopulmonarydiagnostic testing.
Participate in the pulmonary rehabilitation program.
Job Requirements
Education, Training and Experience Required:
Minimum:Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care
Licensure/Certification:
Required: CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) completion.
Required: Registered Respiratory therapist (RRT) license

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
